Wayne State University has been recognized as one of 2009’s Great Colleges to Work For following a workplace quality assessment by The Chronicle of Higher Education and ModernThink LLC.
An unofficial announcement was made in June, and results of the assessment were made public July 6. The Great Colleges to Work For program recognizes institutions for specific best practices and policies, such as tenure clarity, collaborative governance, work/life balance and compensation and benefits.
Wayne State University was recognized in the following categories:
- health insurance
- disability insurance
- vacation or paid time-off
- 403(b) or 401(k)

"We are extremely pleased and honored to be recognized as one of the 2009 Great Colleges to Work For," said Wayne State's Associate Vice President for Human Resources Mark Ankenbauer. "This acknowledgment reinforces the efforts that we have put forth in the pursuit of our mission. It is only through the hard work of our dedicated faculty and staff that we have been able to achieve all of the accomplishments that make Wayne State a premier research university."
