Blood drive boosts donations during critical summer months

In summer months, the demand for blood donations becomes critical. As people busy themselves with activities and vacations, and students are away from their high schools and universities where they donate blood during other times of the year, a blood supply shortage occurs. The shortage can impede doctors' ability to treat trauma patients.

You can help rescue lives by becoming a donor during the Summer Blood Drive, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., through Thursday, July 3, on the first floor of the Student Center Building. The drive is sponsored by the University Activities Center (UAC).

Encourage faculty and staff in your department or unit to donate. Walk-ins or appointments are welcome. For an appointment, register online at Give Life, and use sponsor code: WSU.

If you have questions, contact Robert Hellar, College of Nursing, at 577-4119 or at ac4659@wayne.edu.
