Board of Governors recognizes outstanding faculty efforts

Five Wayne State University professors, who have distinguished themselves through the research and writing of scholarly publications and participation in international competitions, have received the 2008 WSU Board of Governors Faculty Recognition Awards.

The awards are given annually to full-time faculty members who make outstanding contributions to scholarship and learning. Each recipient will be honored with a citation from the board, an engraved wall plaque and a monetary award.

  • Norah Duncan IV, associate professor and associate chair, Department of Music, College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts
  • Barry Lyons, associate professor, Department of Anthropology, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS)
  • Kathleen McNamee, professor, Department of Classical and Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures, CLAS
  • Andrew Port, associate professor, Department of History, CLAS
  • Kirsten Moana Thompson, associate professor, Department of English, CLAS
